A copy of an actual prescription for a short-sighted person is shown above as an example. The Sph & Cyl values are respectively -3.75 and -1.25 for the right eye and -3.25 and -0.75 for the left eye.
For your information: We calculate the required lens power by adding half of the cylinder value to the sphere value. Therefore in the example above the right eye would require a -4.375 step diopter lens {-3.75 + ½ of -1.25} and the left eye would require a -3.625 step dioptre lens {-3.25 + ½ of -0.75}.
We always move DOWN to the nearest step diopter as this causes less strain and helps to balance the slight magnifying effect that occurs underwater. So we would supply -4.0 and -3.5 step diopter lenses for the right and left eye respectively in this case.
Please note: The trials we have carried out show that it takes a short time for your eyes to adjust to the goggles. Also, as with all prescription swimming goggles, they may not provide the same level of correction as your spectacles but they are more than adequate for their purpose.
